The Deep Photographic Guide to the
Constellations

Taurus

Constellations are presented for all months of a year. Deep exposed and highly resolved color photographies show stars down to twelfth magnitude in a standard field of about 26 x 39 degrees. A variety of deep sky objects is seen in most constellations and presented as magnifications with description. The big images are intended to show the deep sky objects in their galactic environment and can be used as "real sky" finder charts for observers. Meanwhile, the list of 88 constellations is complete, however, a few updates with some improved images will follow.

Following images (JPEG) are presented for each constellation in a standard field of about 26 x 39 degrees:
  • Main image with 512 x 342 pixels (~100 kB).
  • Big image with higher resolution of 1024 x 683 pixels (~300 kB).
  • Big image with marked deep sky objects (~300 kB).
  • A visual view with reduced magnitudes and overlayed lines (~10kB). Else it is hard to see a constellation in a deep and sharp photography! (We don't use diffusers on principle.)
  • Special sections of the fully resolved image in a standard size of 3o x 3o (255 x 255 pixels). They contain the deep sky objects (each ~30 kB).
  • For some deep sky objects a telescope or telephoto lens image is available.
